Client: UBA
Project Duration: 7th Sept 2017 to 20th Sept 2017
Narration:
Engineering Safety Investigation conducted on the three (3) level bank building, sequel to the observation of:
- Excessive moisture ingress into the battery room
- Extensive spalling of concrete elements (slabs, beams, staircases)
- Cracks on some walls
- The paucity of parking spaces and inadequate functional spaces for general banking operations
Report of the investigation concluded that:
- The load-bearing system of the building was structurally intact (notwithstanding the defective roofing system)
- Certain structural beams, columns, and footings must be retrofitted
- Spalled concrete surfaces must be treated with proper concrete bonding agents before dressing with mortar
- Replace the existing roof with a hip-roof that gets the water away from the footprint
- Relocate the roof water tank onto a steel structure outside the footprint of the building
- Repaint all external walls with weather-shielded paint
