Client: GT BANK

Project Duration:

August 2012 to September 2012

Narration:

Engineering Safety Investigation conducted on the Three (3) level bank building, sequel to reported vibrations at a section of the building in addition to sundry observed maintenance defects on the building & its external grounds.

Report of the investigation concluded that;

  • The structural integrity of the building is still intact; with section capacities of structural elements of the building’s frame still exceeding their external actions,
  • Yes, there is a wide divergence of 23.75MPa in the crushing strengths of the basement columns, but load-coordinates for all critically loaded columns at 2/D, 2/C & 3/D fall below the equilibrium curve,
  • Beam-3 of the entry floor & soffit of the suspended entry floor slab with exposed reinforcement, must be thoroughly wire-brushed & treated with “Sikalite”, before dressing with rich-mix of C/S mortar,
  • All masonry walls with cracks can be filled-in with epoxy-resins after grinding out the cracks,

On the external the paving stones can be removed, the depressions filled with sand and compacted, before laying the stones again.
