Client: UBA
Project Duration: 7 December 2014 to January 2017
Narration:
Engineering Safety Investigation conducted on the two (2) level building, sequel to desire to change its use to a training facility.
Report of the investigation concluded that:
- The existing structure has the capacity to function in a new use as a training facility
- Change of solid internal block walls to lightweight partitions in a bid to reduce deadweight and limit long-term settlements (the immediate grounds of this building have already been landscaped)
- Consequently, the timber trusses must likewise be changed to steel trusses that can span longer openings and further reduce the dead weight to the foundations
- The cover slab over the stairs should be properly felted, with provision for rainwater drain pipes in at least two points
- Interceptor drainage across the entrance, sloping towards the two opposite sides, should be introduced to prevent inundation of the lower floor
